TURKISH FLOUR YEAST AND INGREDIENTS PROMOTION GROUP AT

FCBAI BAKERY FAIR 2017

Turkish Flour Yeast and Ingredients Promotion (TFYI) attracted great interest from visitors at FCBAI Bakery Fair 2017 organized for the 9th time by Filipino-Chinese Bakery Association, Inc. (FCBAI) in which TFYI is a member and with which TFYI carries out joint activities in the Philippines, one of the major markets of Turkey in wheat flour exports. TFYI participated for the second time this year in the said fair.

Held for the 9th time this year in Manila city of the Philippines between 17-19 February 2017, the 9th Exhibition on Bakery, Confectionery and Foodservice Equipment and Supplies 2017, which is held once every two years, was attended by many firms operating in flour imports, bakery, confectionery sectors from a large number of countries including particularly the Philippines, Turkey, USA, Belgium, China, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Vietnam.

Being the most important fair in bakery sector in the Philippines, FCBAI Bakery Fair 2017 was attended by Turkish Flour Yeast and Ingredients Promotion Group (TFYI) together with 4 wheat flour exporter firms and 1 yeast/baking powder exporter firm which export products coming under the field of activity of the Promotion Group and to which free stand area was allocated by TFYI. In addition, Bastak Instruments, a Turkish firm exporting flour additives and quality control devices, and Marsa Yağ San. ve Tic. A.Ş., a Turkish firm exporting vegetable oils, margarine, pasta and instant soups, participated individually in the fair.

At TFYI info stand, the visitors were furnished with cookbooks in English, containing recipes of sweet and salty bakery products and catalogues introducing the sector. In addition, kitchen aprons, bags and baker’s sets carrying the name and logo of the Promotion Group were distributed during the fair.

The shows performed by the sand animation artist Mr. Veysel Çelikdemir using flour and sand attracted great attention from the visitors. Chef Cook Emin Aydemir prepared and served bakery products such as “kurabiye”, “börek”, “poğaça”, etc. to the visitors, showing off his art.

The opening ceremony of the fair held on 17 February 2017 was attended by TFYI Delegation headed by Mr. Turgay ÜNLÜ, Chairman of UTG, accompanied by Ms. Esra CANKORUR, Turkish Ambassadress to Manila, and Mr.Halil ÖZTÜRK, Turkish Commercial Counsellor to Manila, as well.

Concurrently, TFYI Chairman Mr. Turgay ÜNLÜ, UTG Vice Chairman Mr. Nurettin DEMİRPOLAT, UTG Directors Mr. Adnan HEKİMOĞLU, Mr. Avşin KAŞIKÇI and Mr. Orhan İLHAN paid a visit to Turkish Ambassadress to Manila Ms. Esra CANKORUR at her office on 18 February 2017.

On 19 February 2017, a dinner brought together Filipino importers that constitute a component of the “Turkish Flour Quality Certification System(TRFQ)” project whose pilot implementation will be launched by TFYI in the Philippines, and UTG-member firms participating in the fair. At the dinner attended by Turkish Commercial Counsellor to Manila Mr.Halil ÖZTÜRK as well, assessments were made on some matters concerning the quality certification system.

On the other hand, negotiations were conducted with the representatives of Malaysian, Singaporean and Taiwanese bakery associations visiting TFYI stand on the first day of the fair, exchanging views in the scope of the activities that can be carried out in the said countries in line with the quality certification system project.
